Kalagriha School of Performing Arts was founded in 2020 by Ottawa-based artist Ms. Stuti Mukherjee, who serves as its Artistic Director. “Kalagriha” is a Sanskrit word meaning “house of art” and was created to nourish Indian classical arts across Ottawa through Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi dance classes, performances, workshops, and lecture demonstrations.

Kuchipudi is a vibrant dance form known for its dance-drama tradition, fast-paced footwork and graceful moves, originating in Andhra Pradesh, India. At Kalagriha, we are proud to spread the knowledge of this rich dance art form to the next generation.

In the spirit of keeping tradition alive, Kalagriha has been conducting an annual Vidyaarambam ceremony on the auspicious day of Vijaydashami, every year since the school’s inception.

At Kalagriha, we strive to teach all aspects of Kuchipudi, in its highest standard, while keeping in mind that every student has a different learning curve.
